Curatorial Welcome Art Seen is pleased to be a resting place for Pam Patterson’s digital performance piece, Travelling: A Photo-based Exhibition curated by Miklos Legrady. The exhibition is accompanied by a thoughtful essay written by Pam to assist travel across the bridge that artists create between themselves and their viewers. The distance she traverses between ability and disability, relief and pain, known and not known, to be a reconfigured presence in the world is deep and wide. With each placement of the foot viewers are asked to witness the shifting ground and moments of contact between the artist and the self—her and our reality. From this place of witness we can shift our understandings of the traveling, sensing, living body in pain, walking self reflexively the path of life. A workshop version, Traveling "body" worlds has been presented in London, UK, St. Johns, Newfoundland and Toronto, Ontario. Barbara Bickel |
