Abstract This article presents the script of a performed dialogue between three women academics working in the field of adult education, where issues of social justice and critically reflective thought are central matters of concern. The purpose of the dialogue is to explore common experiences in the academy that go against our fundamental commitments as critical theorists and educators. Our discussion of shared experiences is informed by supporting voices drawn from feminist and critical theory as well as poetry. What we hope to accomplish in this dialogue is to name some underlying problems endemic to academic work and to identify forms of resistance that can be helpful in keeping these problems from undermining the integrity of socially committed academics in the field of adult education and beyond. |
