As an artist-researcher-teacher she is interested in the role the body plays in the construction of knowledge and how this knowing is mediated through visual culture. Sylvia Wilson Kind Sylvia Wilson Kind is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Curriculum Studies at the University of British Columbia. She is exploring the relationships of loss and pedagogy through art making, teaching, and writing autobiographically. She currently teaches studio and art methods courses at UBC, is the mother of two teenage daughters and one special needs son, and engages with art making, particularly textiles, as a way of entering into the difficulties and challenges of life.
